The vowel in OE geoh(h)el, gehhol, etc. is anaptyctic (*jexxul < *jexxl-
like æppel < appl-).

This is from the Vernerian variant, as are some other forms, e.g. OIc.
ýlir < *jeulijaz (= Goth. jiuleis) < *jegWlija- < *jekWl(i)jó-. The
collective *jegWlo: < *jekWláh2 meant 'period of feasting'.
