The "ore" word, which is common Slavic, not just southern, is no doubt
part of the "red" etymon, the connection being provided by the colour of
hematite and red ochre. There are also several Slavic verbs derived from
the adjective *rudU, and Pokorny of course doesn't list them all.
<repa> should be glossed as 'turnip' and is unrelated to *h1reudH- (cf.
Lat. rapa, Alb. rrepë, Gk. hrápHus, OHG ruoba, etc., and Pokorny's entry
for *ra:p-). There must have been a lot of borrowing of this word to and
fro in Europe, but the turnip root itself, so to speak, may be PIE.
