It should be something related to Germanic *brauda- anyway, though the
details are not very clear. It should be:*bhreu- 'to boil, bubble, effervesce'. Also *bhreHu-/*bhreuH-. Alb. <m-bruj> 'to ferment', derived from prefixed form of zero-grade form *bhru-n-yo; <brumë> 'daff' ppp of <m-bruj> (cf. above <mbij> 'to sprout', but <bimë> 'plant' as well as <grij> 'grate, mince', but ppp <grimë> 'bit, fleck'): Lat. fervere 'id.': Gmc *breuwan 'id.'. Metathesized form *bhur- > Alb. <buronj> 'gush, sprin', derived probably from *bhure: -n-yo; <burim> 'fountain, source', deverbativ of <buroj>: Gmc <bruno:n> 'id.': Gr. phrear 'id.'
