Hello Piotr,
I agree here, the semantism is not 100% accurate (please note
that in Albanian we have also nyell indicating as nuia 'a stamp from
a tree')

But I don't see well how you can derived nye from Latin no:dus
1. I cannot see why d should failed here?
2. but ok, let's say d>zero. In this case d>zero took place.For
sure after o: > e finished completely before d>zero
3. Finally *neu > ne (due to eu>e)

So Piotr, no:dus would give *ne in Albanian not nye...
