Sorry, I haven't access to Gyldendal's Dansk Etymologish Ordbog
(neither on paper nor on line). I will go to Helsingör before
Christmas to buy Wibroe's Porter for my "lutfisk" and perhaps drop in
at the public library. But that will take some month. Perhaps Torsten,
Jens or Aquila Grande would be so kind as to check it up.
My guess is that it is some sort of derivation from the verb appearing
as "tread" in English.
