A self-correction. Looking back, I see that the name is Sjigir-
Kneippa, not Sigri-kneippa. Sjigir may still be another version of the
name Sigri/Sigrid.
Local Norwegian dialects often have their own version of names. When
rendering these on paper, sometimes the local version is used,
sometimes the official version and sometimse some mix.
The modern official form of the name is "Sigrid", pronounced "Sigri".
When interpreting these names, one should also consider that these
seem to be baced on Norwegian dialects, but in an area that is now a
part of Sweden. Therefore, the modern version may contain some degree
of Sedish interpretation.
