From a brief summary (in English) of the beginnings of The Great War in
1914.
"On July 23,
Austria-Hungarys ambassador to Serbia presented an ultimatum: Serbia must
eliminate *terrorists* based in the country and suppress publications critical
of Austria-Hungary... Accordingly, Serbia tried to defuse the situation...[and] promised
to suppress *terrorism* and publications critical of
Austria-Hungary."
I am interested to know what German (assuming it
was German; maybe it was French) word was used in the Austrian letter, and
whether "terrorists" is a fair translation. I presume Serbia's promise
was in the same language (but maybe there was a Serbian version), and I
would like to know whether "terrorism" is a fair translation.
Thank you.
