Actually, I could do even worse antics:

*bheróm
*por-s
*por-t

*bhe-róme
*pór-te
*bhe-rónt

and get both Goth. bairan and faran out of it, by different
Ausgleichungen. (bh-/p- I might explain as Verner-type influenced
preverbed/non-preverbed variants).
