The suggestion was that the Hungarian word was a loan from some very
early IE source. That isn't likely, in my opinion, partly for formal
reasons (neither PIE *(s)kerdH- nor PIIr. *sc'ardH- seem to match
<csorda> better than the Slavic words), partly because of the semantics:
the original meaning seems to have been something like 'division (into
equal parts)', and the specialised meaning 'flock, heard' is post-PIE.
