The vocab. doesn't consist only of Uralic & Altaic lexems,
but also of IE ones, both old and recent (loanwords that
entered the language after leaving "Atelkuzu" in Ukraine
and the colonization among Slavs in Slovakia and Pannonia).
Moreover, Hungarians assimilated IE-languages speaking
populations, esp. of Alanian kind and whole lotta Slavs
and Germans (virtually any Hungarian has Slavic and/or
German ancestors) as well as Romanians. (Even words from
the Romanian-Albanian substratum group are also extant
in the Hung. vocabulary, even as family names, such as
Kopácsi, although the probability for the average
Hungarian to know that it actually means "tree" tends
to nil [cf. Alb. kopaç [correct me if I'm wrong] and
Rum. copac, plural copaci & older singular copaci ->
copaciul [now obsolete/out of use].

Innummerable reciprocal influences and traces might be
seen as valuable etymologic morcels of information.
