if one want's to have it from Latin "urtica" one can consider the "ti" >
"zi" as accident and we have the Latin derivation here; the meaning of
"burn" will be sustained by the german denomination of the plant
(brennessel) but I am not sure if the "brenn" in the German "brennessel"
is a not new formation.
Interesting can be the fact, the nettle is know from antiquity as textil
plant and then the connection with "urzi" is not too hasardated at all;
the connection between "nettle" and "net" is obvious (Germman nessel -
netz, Rom. "urzi" - "urzica" ) and it can be there is no accident and
"urzica" is not from Latin "urti:ca" at all.
