Come on, are you being seriuos? Your kindred don't know the word,
so "there have never been any obuolas' in all Baltic dialects"
and "it can be only mistake or probably falsification."? I'm not sure
I see any sense in continuing the discussion. If you are really
interested, please do the following:
1. go to a library
2. follow the references in LKZ^ (mostly to the "Tarmiu, archyvas")
3. find the source (place, informant, dialectologist)
4. check.
The latter depends on: whether there are any audiorecords or not,
whether the informant is still alive etc. If there are no
audiorecords and the informant is dead, of course one can always
accuse a dialectologist of incompetence or dishonesty, but what if
the word is registered many times by variuos dialectologists
independently? Please also note that most of the dialect descriptions
made after the WWII were conducted by native dialect speakers
themselves being at the same time trained linguists.
