You got me an idea now with your specification "stricto sensu". That does
not has to have been considered stricto senso but too in the same of "like",
the one which is like "xxxx" where "xxxx" the one who gave the name of the
family.
Thus "Ion", the Ioneshti are these which are like "Ion", thus the localities
got the name of the clan: Bucuresti, from Bucur, these like Bucur ( from his
family, like him) are Bucuresti, and how to call the place where these like
Bucur are living in? The place of Bucureshti - < Bucuresti.

Thus, the derivation is not "of xxx" in a genitival way, but from "like
xxx".
