*liro- 'sea, flood', connected by Pokorny with his *le(:)i- 'pour', now
usually reconstructed as PIE *h2lei- 'set in motion' (see EIEC). The
root is particularly well represented in the northern branches (Celtic,
Germanic, Balto-Slavic), though not restricted to them.
