Probably what is otherwise known as Southern Semitic (South Arabian and Ethiopic).
From memory, the term is used in a classification where Arabic is "Southern Central" and SA/Eth. are "Southern Peripheral" (and, I think, NW Semitic is "Northern Central", and Akkadian is "Northern Peripheral").
