Yes, well, in the end, it appears that Etruscan notation practically
did away with almost any vowel. It was certainly partly due to a
true syncope that happened in the language but perhaps also a matter
of spelling convention to drop 'unneeded' vowels. That is, one needed
only write vowels if it clarified the meaning of a text. Egyptian did
away with vowels altogether in its own writing system and it still did
just fine, so perhaps Etruscans took advantage of this idea themselves.
