Nobody understands it; that however does not exclude its being true.
Nobody understood erku right away. It strikes me now that we should
not even expect *sruH- before a vowel. I tried to figure out the
rules myself, and they certainly stipulate this only before a
consonant. And -d- apparently belongs before a vowel, so maybe it
really is the product of a levelling process. Anyway, it is not
solved yet.
