There cannot be a French influence but an adapation of the French
word to Rom. maybe under the influence of the recognised (as such)
suffix "-ator", "-atoare" (m/f)

The suffix "-atore" is supposed to derive from an VLat *torea (< -
toria). The Latin suffix *torea should be a remade form Latin masc. "-
tore". This suffix should yelded the Rom. "-atore" and from "-atore"
there is re-made a masc. "-ator".
