I think it seems to be a parallel between White Elves x Dwarf Elves in Scandinavia and Yakshasa x Rakshasa in India. Shiny Atmospheric beings and Dark Underground beings.

i'd say they were both smith-gods, but very different though. the
elven skill in smithcraft would be a different art i guess.... Egil
the Elf in Norse lore, was also said to be a giant archer.
