On further checking, I find that the gaur (Bos gaurus) is
sometimes called "the Indian bison". Some sources more carefully
say "mistakenly called ....".
I can't tell which bovid is on the various seals under
discussion, or know specifically which "homa" referred to if it did,
but I'll withdraw my criticism, with apologies.
