One of prehistoric Albanian sound-law was exactly the reduction of
the cluster -kt- > -t-: *nokW-t- > natë 'night', *sekti > shat 'hoe'
(Pokorny, *sek-), PN Arktos > Artë, until in historic time clusters -
kt- and -pt- have developed in -jt- and -ft-: Lat. directus > Alb.
drejt, Lat. aptus > Alb. i aftë.
