My current tentative opinion about Arge$ is that it reflects
*h2arg^-es-jo-s (a derivative of the deverbal noun *h2arg^-es-
'shining'), which developed into Dacian *ar3iesja- (of which Ordessos ~
Argessos are approximate orthographic renderings) --> Rom. Arge$
/ar3^es^/ through regular substitution.
