RE: etyma for Crãciun, Romanian for Christmas

Simona Goicu [in “Termenii crestini in onomastica romaneasca”, ed. Amphora,
Timisoara, 1999, at page 21-52] has summarized probably all the existing
theories regarding this word.
Another interesting explanation [because is explaining "Moş Crãciun"] is
given by Aurelia Bãlan Mihailovici, in her “Dictionar Onomastic Crestin”,
ed. Minerva, Bucuresti, 2003 at page 123-125.
