It is also found in Hungarian Karácsony. The word is obviously Slavic, from
krat7k7 "short", kratj6j6 "shorter" etc.(~ solstices). Semantics fits,
phonology fits and a Slavic etymon is the only possible since the word is
found in Slavic, Hungarian and Romanian.
