Thank you again, Peter. I`ve been studying latin and greek for years now but I never realised how important were the studies on indo-european linguistics for the comprehension of both these languages. Now I am trying to overcome this handicap of mine and slowly buying and reading some introductory books on the issue. So thank you again!

The second book is well worth while.  It outlines some of the main areas of
debate remaining in PIE linguistics, with suggestions for solutions.  In the
process it gives a good overview of PIE.   I am ashamed to admit I don't
know the first book, but I don't think there's any reason to be cautious
about Lehmann.  His scholarship is sound, and speculation is clearly marked
as speculation.
