The quoted essay on *snusos was unnecessary. I'm well aware of the existence
of *snusos (and of the secondarily regularised variant *snusah2, as in
Germanic *snuro:). My point was that the form you originally quoted,
*snuso:s, didn't exist. Perhaps you confused stress with length, but it's
your problem, not mine. The fact that *snusos and <nuse> look similar
doesn't mean that they're directly relatable to each other; as it happens,
they aren't, just like, say, Eng. day and Lat. dies. The derivation of
<nuse> from *snubHtjah2 (and its relatedness to Gk. numphe:) isn't my own
idea but what I take to be the mainstream opinion of Albanologists. Can you
refer me to a serious author who disagrees with it?
