Of course: they are German dialects too.

That's why I underlined that oberdeutsche (like
Bavarian) and mitteldeutsche Mundarten are actually
closer to Hochdeutsch than niederdeutsche Mundarten.
(What's Hochdeutsch after all? A certain kind of
German that's chiefly based on mitteldeutsche types
of German, and partly oberdeutsche ones. Nothing
else.)

the long run, some kind of a... cyborg language or
