I made also something like a mistake there. I am not
only discouraging the popularity of german but also
teaching you some aberrations like "im diesen
Beispiel" hehehe.. ;-)
It would be better if you all sue me, because I am
always off-topic... ;-) Perhaps it has something to do
with my poor knolowedge of indo-european linguistics.
But I`m trying to learn it. And I am trying not to be
off-topic. ;-)
You´re right there (about the german stuff). And I can
also add that the future of Hochdeutsch is the same
future of the Latin tongue. Hochdeutsch will become a
"dead" tongue in the sense that nobody will speak it
anymore (we know that in other senses the Latin still
lives...). Nowadays the austrians and germans speak
according the various local dialects and some of these
dialects are virtually incomprehensible for those who
understand only the "written german", the Hochdeutsch.
(Those who have already been to München know that in a
lot of restaurants and bars the "menus" are bilingual:
Hochdeutsch / Bairisch.)
I have the feeling that the children of my children(or
simply my grandchildren!) will not be brought up in a
bilingual style of education as my own children were
(they have learned simultaneously german and
portuguese), and that`s so because they know that
Hochdeutsch is dying (in the aforementioned sense...)
