There is no "Latin tre".

It is not the /e:/ which becomes /ei/ (actually [ey]), but the
final -s who does that.

It is a rule in monosyllabic words in Eastern Romance. It is
Italian and Vegliote than Romanian behaving rather exceptional in
this case.
