Soma is not ephedra juice. Soma is eaten by deva. I have cited
Cha_ndogya Upanis.ad before. Eating by deva is a metaphor. Soma is
electrum, it is 'eaten' consumed by fire and other divinities as
purification (using the filter, pavitram) occurs at about 1500
degrees centrigrade heat generated in over 5 days and 5 nights of
processing. Soma is bought in carts and reduced. Rasa is a technical
term; rasava_da means alchemy. Rasa is molden gold-silver, electrum.
