Whatever baseless pet-theories make your little heart a-flutter.
IE speakers don't seem to have lived on islands or harbours. They were
in-land, up some river perhaps, but in-land. More like Winnipeg and almost
as cold in the winter :P So any which way you slice it, there's an
intermediary group of traders. Unless you can describe the "item(s)" that
IE speakers "couldn't get" that shows up in the archaeological record of
the North Pontic, I'd say your theory is up the creek without a paddle.
