BRAIOLA (fortress in the province of the city Akue, also: Ad
Aquas/Akoines/Aquis. Proc. De aed. IV 4), < Brai-ola.
BRATJA (island in Illyrian seashore. Plin. NH III 26), maybe today
Brach, through Slavic evolution /tj/ > /ch/ (cf. Lat. Ratio > Sl.
Rachun).
BRAINA < Bra- + suffix –ina. It's worth to mention that this village
in Kosova is close to village Rimanishte, probably Slavic form of
Romanishte, making so distinction between romanized and non-
romanized villagers.
BRAISHOR < Bra- + -ishor, very common patronymic in Kosova, probably
from commemorative origin, even I can't find until know any village
with such names. But, generally speaking, most Albanian patronymics
have commemorative origin.
In all these place names I doubt that we have to deal with Illyrian
appellative <bra> `brother'.
I believe also that place name Bratilovo in Russia also is motivated
by Slavic appellative <brat> `brother'.
I hope that my Romanians friends will help me about patronymic
Braishor.
