This practice is naughty; if one looks at the chart at
http://www.i-foo.com/~kturtle/misc/xsamchart.gif , one will see that
[V] is the unrounded equivalent of [O]. My [r3_of] seems a little
bit Northern, but even fewer would have understood me if I'd written
[r6f].
