I'm afraid the above is wrong. Both PIE *j and Latin [j-] give Albanian
<gj-> word-initially. <z> is of course possible as an outcome of *dj,
but not of *j- (let alone *i:-). Here are a couple of examples:

n-gjesh < *jo:s-
gjykoj <-- Lat. iu:dica:re

In the case of Iadera > Zarë I suppose we must assume and intermediate
form with <dz^>, which means that the word was mediated by late Latin
and Balkan Romance.
