You haven't been paying attention, Torsten. I'm the one saying that
the Semitic-IE correspondences ARE the result of later loans! I have
much skepticism for people who try to directly relate Semitic with IE.
There's just simply too much seperation between them to take any
cognate connections seriously, aside from perhaps grammatical ones.
But even there, there's a lot of difference between AfroAsiatic
morphology and IE's. So I really don't think it's as simple as comparing
IE ablaut with Semitic ablaut as is often done to my ennui.
