I do not understand why Skt. ras- must be the same
thing as BSl. *rasa: and Lat. ro:s. The latter words
mean 'rope' which in my view is semantically very far
from Skt. ras- 'juice'. I would seperate these words,
and just regard Skt. ras- as belonging to the root
*h1ers- 'to flow'. Then one has the problem of
Schwebeablaut: a full grade *h1ers- is well attested
in e.g. Hitt. rs-, Skt. ars.ati, so a second full
grade *h1res- (or h1ros-) is problematic anyway.
Perhaps secondary gun.a (like e.g. rajat-
'silver-coloured' from unattested *r.jat- 'silver',
while original full-grade s *h2erg^- like in
arjuna-). If Skt. ras- shows a secondary gun.a then
it is likely that the word is too recent anyway to
have participated in Brugmann's Law.
