I probably have failed to follow this. What about the causatives, and the
perfect strong forms, both of which show -o- short in an open syllable:
*mon-eye-
*bhe-bhow-e
Are you thinking that the morpheme boundary makes the -o- syllable not a
"true" open syllable?
