I wonder if the word (a pupa)" to kiss" is related here too.DEX give it
as from Latin *puppare

For Puppe ( Spielzeug) there is "pãpuSã" but this one is used too for
the maize cob when the maize cob is stil young and has the "hair" as a
little puppet
The "pupaza" makes "pup pup" this is the noise it makes, thus it seems
very OK to call it so. The wild pigeon, the gray one is called too after
its sound because its sounds is perceped as "gu-gu-Xuc" thus it was
called "guguStiuc", the swallow which fly in a row is called after the
row ( in Rom. "rând" [cf DEX < Sl. rendU]); thus the name of this bird
is "rândunicã". The wren try to hide onself always thus it is called
after "to hide" ( a pitula [ cf. DEX < piti > pitic (dwarf); pitic=
compare with Slavic pitikU) aqnd so on..
It seems the birds are called ( do I must specify that in Rom. Lang.?)
after the way they are acting not because of their colour. I mean, there
are enough Romanians here, they should remember for such names for a
bird because of their colour and I will be glad to remember too about
these names if they are.
