Why should given as derivative of Latin <lumen> 'light'. Lets take a
look in PIE *gWer- > Alb. zjerm/zjarm > zjarr 'fire', where -m is, if
not consonantal ending in Albanian, attested also in <tharm> 'yeast,
leaven', then present passive participle -mo/-ma. Droping of stops is
common Albanian feature. So, *leuk-, zero-grade form *luk-, extended
in -m > *lu(k)m, derives nothing else but <i lum> 'white, blessed,
happy', etc.
