Nations are abstracts. They can't feel self-importance,
Only human individuals are capable of that. Not all of
the citizens of the U.S. feel self-important, nor or all
Canadians _free_ of self-importance, as your post showed,
and which was my point.

> the one swayed by emotional, war-mongering propoganda,

Nations can't be swayed, only individuals can. I'm not
swayed by any propoganda, nor is my family, nor are most
of the people I know. Are we all long lost Canadians?

I don't owe the UN anything.

I've never killed, nor condoned the killing of anyone.

Nations can't be homophobic, only individuals can.
I'm gay myself. Am I to understand that I must
both endure the denial of my rights in this area,
as well as feel guilty for it too? In any case,
just how completely has all of Canada _really_
embraced gay marriage? Shall I pull out this
year's report on gay hate crimes in the Vancouver
area? We live in a homophobic world my friend.
Don't lay the guilt for that all on the U.S.

I didn't vote for him, and I'm not a Roman Catholic.
Almost 50%, maybe more, of the population who voted,
didn't vote for him either. Doesn't Canada recognize
the queen of Britain as their own, the queen who swore
an oath to defend the Church of England? No country
on earth preserves the separation of Church and State
to the degree that I would like.

> which forces poor people to pay for their health care,

Why shouldn't one pay for any goods or services they use?
Should doctors be required to work for free? Should I,
who take care of my health, be coerced to pay the bills
of those who don't? Socialism failed, but more important
than its ineffectiveness is the fact that it is coercive
and immoral. That's why your health care system gets
worse everyday, and why you have chronic unemployment
and outrageously high taxes. Look at the socialist
countries of Europe to see your future.

I'm sorry, but I'm not in charge of any news agencies
and thus don't decide their policies. About a month
ago I received an email from an Indian friend who told
me of discrimination he received at his job in Vancouver,
so I'm not convinced that all Canadians are truly color-
blind.

You don't need to tell me. I'm a big fan of Canada. But
I'm no more a fan of Canadian chest-thumpers than I am of
American ones. Why don't you simply desist in inserting
little political jibes in with your posts? Your personal
arrogance is more than enough without having to endure
your nationalism as well.
