Dear Juha,

Thanks for the critical review in JBio of VN Misra's articles.

I have no problem with the archaeology of Mahabharata, either as it
relates to sinking (many sinkings?) of Dwaraka or as it relates to
so-called PGW sites. Not enough work has been done to say that
archaeology disproves Mahabharata. One evidence is emphatic: the
river. The war was fought on the banks of River Sarasvati.

The astronomical evidence is there. It is remarkable that a date can
so consistenly explain almost about 100 varied astronomical
observations in the text. There is every reason to believe that
these were 'observed' celestial epigraphs.

Re: iron. the jury is still out. Some foray like those of Prof.
Possehl point to the use of iron earlier than 2000 BCE. How about
the use of aduru, native metal? Maybe, this was meteoric iron, given
the specific semantics of this word in Kannada. It is metal which
has not been subjected to smelting or melting (Kittel).
