if "ber" is of Germanic origin then it is eplained trough old frankish
*baro.
the word became in French nominative "ber" and in accusative, "baron".
Now, it should be interesting to know the turkish meaning of "bre" and
of course maybe of "haide, aide" = let's go comparative with "ade" in
French and a part of Germanic (good bye) but slavic "ide" ( to go) too..
