Miguel gave you the answer: a new construction
(douazeci, treizeci, patruzeci etc.). The old
Latin numerals disappeared except for paresimi.
And no one knows, without the book/dictionary,
that paresimi is quadragessima (which is not
patruzecime, but a patruzecea or al patruzecilea,
an ordinal numeral).
