Thanks for the good will. But I did read something about the
stress in the Turkic languages being on the last syllable. There
was a period when I ate up just too many books and I have only
recently started to note down everything and check out the
sources given. I may have read many things that are mistaken.

Thank you very much for the clarifications. I have been thinking
lately I want to learn Turkish, but I am wondering just where to
start from, so this will have to wait. I think I will need it if I want to
do the job with the comparisons.

For all that may be interested: I have nothing against the Turks or
the Slavs. I am even silly enough to believe in the Slavic (and
Russian soul). I am in love with those cultures (and especially
with the Russian). I have grown up with it, since my whole
family reads heavily in Russian (I began when I was 10, my
mother graduated in Moscow). In addition to that, my latest craze
is a a song in Greek and a gipsy song that I want to learn to play
on the guitar. And while I may get romantic on folklore and art, I
keep the romanic away from my science. Yet I do think a deeper
understanding of a people through its language, folklore,
literature and history is the best way of getting to what can be
right and what can be wrong about its roots. Languages are not
isolated systems of sounds and symbols - they define and
reflect our lives.
