the root does not match. The root which would match for instance whould
be *bheri- as extended to *bher. The problem is that phoneticaly doesn't
match too.
Suggestion: what if you try to see the evolution primary to "f" not to
"th"?
The argument for this idea should be seen as follow:
- the word is in Rom. and Alb. languages. We cannot say exactly if this
is a loan from a language to another language, so on this basis we can
accept this word as comming from a common source. Since in Alb. the
alternance /f/=/th/ exist( why this is, it doesnt matter now), but in
Rom. the word is known just with /f/, it should sound resonably to think
the word was initialy with "f" as in "fëmijë"/"thëmijë", word which
derives ( as per your view) from Latin "familia" where there is
originary an "f".
In this manner, what a root should ou see? I have some thoughts but I
need too know how an presumably PIE *sbh- can be represented in
Albanian.
