Oh, very interesting. I've never seen an explanation of such ending. So, october seems to be an analogy.
 
*decem-mens-ri > *decemembri > december
*novem-mens-ri > *novemembri > november
*octo-mens-ri > * octomembri > *octomber > by analogy > october
*septem-mens-ri > *septemembri > september

It's actually not a particle, but the result of a sound change.  The
following is from Andrew Sihler's New Comparative Grammar of Greek
and Latin (1995):

septem-mens-ri- "pertaining to the seventh month"

> septemenèri- > septemembri- > nom. september via syncope and
assimilation
