Something like that might be expected for regions in
Moldavia and Transylvania, but I myself have never
heard such a pronunciation so far.

Another word with quite similar phonetics, "vier",
I've also heard as [g^ers] and read as "ghiers".
But of "viu" and its derivatives, never. I don't
exclude the possibility altogether though.

Yes, that kind of special [g-h] is unknown in
the Daco-Romanian dialect. One has to be shown
by a Greek native speaker how to pronounce this
special sound. (Turks have a similar, but still
different sound, that's written as a "g" with
a diactritical sign on it.)
