Rom. "pic"? this means just " a little, a bit" .
If the fish should be related to colours then more interesting is the
word "pestriT" which means "with many colours"
the root is indeed "pest-" .
I ask myself if "-ritia" could ever have been a suffix since there is a
fish called "lostriTa" too. But before loosing time with these, it is
better to see what about the consacred etymologies:
pestrit= cf DEX from Slavic "pIstrI"
lostriTã= cf DEX _like_ Russian or Ukrainian "losos"= somon
