"oltvány" ['olt-va:n~] = "oltás" ['ol-ta:S]
substantives to the verb "oltani" ['ol-tO-ni]
= to graft. Further meanings: extinction
(especially with the prefixes "el-" and "ki-",
that are similar to Engl. "off/away" and "off"
and Ger. "aus-/ver-/zer-/ab-"); quenching.

Hence

"tûzoltás" = fire service, fire fighting (and
many other composed words pertaining the things
& actions of/by a Fire Department / Squad);

"beoltani" = to inoculate;
"védõoltás" = immunization (védö = defending,
defender); "újraoltás" = revaccination;
"oltási lap" = vaccination paper (certificate!);
"lámpaoltás" = lights out.

etc.

I have no idea whether "olt-" is a genuine
Magyar (i.e. ancient Ugrian) word or whether
a loanword.
