Thietmar of Merseburg (d. 1018) in his Chronicle.
Volodimer/Vladimir is dearticulated as "princeps
pacis" (if I remember right. It's been some time since
I consulted that source. In any case the first
component is definitely associated with "rule".)
Thietmar was well informed about political events and
actors east of the Empire. He knew about the "veloci
Dani" who helped to defend Kyiv against Boleslav.*****
